Sessions, laps and lap review

PitStop times laps from your layout's start/finish point, then turns the session into a sheet you can review lap by lap.

Record a session

Sessions always come from a drive, so you can't type in a lap time. The layout needs a start/finish point first (see Track overview).

  1. Open the event and pick the car.
  2. Tap Start session in Next run.
  3. Drive. Timing starts at your first crossing.
  4. Press and hold Hold to end.
  5. Wait for Saving session.

How laps are timed

A lap is the time between two GPS crossings of start/finish.

  • Before the first crossing, the board says OUT LAP. The crossing starts LAP 1.
  • Crossings too soon after the last don't count. A lap is at least 10 seconds by default.
  • Weak GPS fixes are ignored. The board shows GPS WEAK.

No timed laps means the car never crossed start/finish with good GPS. Laps for a still-uploading session appear when the upload finishes.

The in-car lap board

While you drive, the screen becomes a board you can read on a phone mount.

  • The big number is your running time, then your last lap after each crossing.
  • After a crossing: SESSION BEST or OFF BEST with the difference. The first lap is First timed lap. The verdict fades so a slow lap doesn't nag.
  • The bottom row shows BEST, THIS LAP, and LAPS.
  • REC, GPS, and OBD lights show what's captured.
  • Laps & data opens details. The chevron minimizes.

The session sheet

Open a session from the event's Runs list.

  • Best lap leads, with its place in the car's day: Best of the day, or the gap like +0.006 to Run 14.
  • Laps, Average, and Distance sit underneath.
  • Runs strip: every session this car had at the event, with best lap and gap. Tap one to jump. It only shows after the car has run more than once.
  • On the car: the setup and what changed going in. Tap the name for every value.
  • Laps: see below.

The lap list

Each row has the lap number (L3), time, and gap to your best. The best is marked Best. A warning triangle means Timing estimate is uncertain. No clean crossing means no laps.

The header reads Tap a lap to review, then Tap to overlay.

Overlay laps on a reference

Tap up to three laps and PitStop draws them against one reference lap.

  • Laps are colored in the order added: white, amber, violet. A lap keeps its color everywhere.
  • The reference is always dashed.
  • Tap a lap again to remove it. A fourth bumps the oldest extra, and your first stays.
  • Touch and hold a lap for Show only this lap or Use as reference.

Pick your reference

By default it's your fastest other lap in the session. The Measured against row says which.

  1. Tap Change on Measured against.
  2. Pick a lap from This session, or open another session at the event.

Only comparable sessions show: same car, layout, and start/finish, with a drive and timed laps.

Lining up laps... means it's working; Try again if it fails. Show the whole drive leaves lap review.

Charts and the delta readout

Laps line up against the reference by distance. A delta is the time gap.

  • The readout shows each lap's time and signed delta. Green found time, red lost it, like +0.214 s.
  • Drag across a chart to read every lap at that point (Delta at). Clear resets.
  • Switch between Inspect and Pan. Pinch or use zoom buttons, and Reset zooms out.
  • Every recorded channel gets a chart, speed included, plus Delta to reference.

Tap expand on a chart for a full sheet, Done to close. Channels with no data show No readings in this part of the lap.

The lap map

With laps selected, the Route card becomes a lap map in each lap's color, reference dashed.

  • Dragging across a chart shows each lap's marker. R is the reference.
  • Tap the map for full screen Lap map, Done to close.

Reviewing inside a drive

A timed session is a drive, so the session sheet is the drive page.

  • Use the session's Share button to share its track result. The drive menu's Share action shares the drive instead. See Track overview for what each track post includes.
  • Remove session from event keeps the drive in your history.
  • Setup, conditions, hot pressures, and notes sit at the bottom. See Setup and Records.
