Drives
Recording Drives
Pick a car and tap start. PitStop logs your route and speed, plus live engine data with an OBD2 adapter.
Start a drive
In the Drives tab, the corner button uses the car you drove last.
- Start [your car]: setup is saved, one tap records.
- Set up [your car]: opens the Start Drive sheet to pick options first.
- More than one car? Tap the arrows next to the button. Quick select switches cars; Configure drive… opens the full sheet.
The Start Drive sheet
Tap Build to pick your car. PitStop remembers each car's drive mode and data mode.
- Street: daily driving and commutes.
- Track: the most precise GPS, for racing and track days.
The Bluetooth row sets how PitStop talks to your OBD2 adapter:
- Automatic: connects when the adapter is available.
- Manual: you connect from the drive screen.
- GPS Only: no adapter. Route, speed, and distance only.
Driving with others
Turn on Enable Group Drive to let others watch and join live. Then pick who:
- Followers: people who follow you.
- Crew: pick a crew. Choose Join Live if it has a live drive, or leave it on Start New.
- Share telemetry: live car data. Off by default, and disabled in GPS Only.
- Share Live Location: your position and GPS speed. On by default.
The start button reads Start Group Drive, Join Crew Drive, or Start My Drive.
While you're recording
You get a timer, a live map with speed, and your adapter status.
- Tap the down arrow to minimize. It keeps recording.
- Connect your adapter, Cancel while connecting, Disconnect when done.
- With an adapter, the TELEMETRY grid shows live readings. Tap a tile to focus on it.
- On a group drive, Me and Group change what the map follows, and you can toggle Speed and Telemetry sharing mid-drive.
Ending and saving
- Tap End at the top right.
- Confirm End Drive.
PitStop saves on your phone first, then uploads in the background. If saving fails, you'll see Recording needs attention and Retry. Your data stays on your phone.
Auto-Stop in Drive Settings saves the drive after 50 seconds of ECU silence while parked.
Drive Settings
Tap the gear atop the Drives tab.
- Drive Settings under Start: pick a build, set its Drive Mode and Data Mode (Auto OBD, Manual OBD, GPS Only), tap Save. Each build keeps its own.
- Start Automatically With CarPlay: see CarPlay and widgets.
- Auto-Stop under Recording.
- Telemetry By Build: pick a car and the readings to record.
Your Drives tab
Drives are listed newest first, with car, date, and duration. Tap one to open it.
Tap the filter icon for Filter Drives: STATUS (All, Completed, Pending) and BUILD. Reset clears them.
Drives not yet on the server are pending:
- Uploading drive: safe on your phone, on its way.
- Saved locally or Drive interrupted: will retry on its own.
- Upload needs attention: tap Retry.
A pending drive's menu has Delete saved drive, which is permanent since it isn't stored elsewhere.
Edit or delete a drive
Open a drive and tap the three-dot menu. Edit names it (optional). Delete removes it and its data for good.
Plan a route
- In your Garage, open the add menu and tap Plan Route.
- Pick a start and destination: search, use your location, or hold on the map.
- Tap the route to add a handle and drag it onto roads you like. Add Stop adds a stop.
- Name it, add road-feel tags if you want (Scenic, Twisty, Mountain, Coastal, Backroads, Highway), and save.
Public route lets others discover it; Private route keeps it yours. Saved routes live under Routes in your Garage.
Open a route and tap Start Drive to record along it, or Maps for Apple Maps. Your own routes have a pencil and Delete Route.
Crew drives
In a crew, tap the plus next to Crew Drives. Choose Free Roam or Planned Route, an optional start time, which car you're bringing, and what to share.
The drive page has Join Drive, Start My Drive, and Leave Drive. The creator also gets Start Group Session and End Group Session. It lists the Route and Participants, and shows a Live Map once live.
