CarPlay, Widgets and Live Activities

Log a drive without digging through your phone. PitStop works on CarPlay, as a Home Screen widget, and as a Live Activity.

CarPlay

Open PitStop on the dash to see Start a Drive with your cars.

  1. Tap your car. The most recent says Last used. Each car shows its saved drive mode and capture source.
  2. Check the car and capture source, then tap Start Drive. You can cancel while PitStop prepares your telemetry setup.

It uses the drive mode and data mode saved for that car in Drive Settings.

While recording

  • Drive, Time, Distance, and GPS show recording progress and route capture health. Progress refreshes at most every ten seconds.
  • Connect OBD-II, Cancel OBD-II, OBD-II Connected, or Retry OBD-II lets you manage the adapter. Disconnecting it keeps the drive recording.
  • Trouble Codes shows saved scan results. PitStop distinguishes a scan that has not run, an incomplete or unavailable scan, and a complete scan with no current codes. Older results say Last seen.

Tap End Drive, then confirm. Keep Recording undoes a mistap.

When the drive ends, Saved on iPhone confirms the local save with its duration and distance. Tap New Drive to return to your cars. Uploads continue separately.

Start automatically with CarPlay

  1. In the Drives tab, tap the gear for Drive Settings.
  2. Under Start, pick the car.
  3. Turn on Start Automatically With CarPlay and tap Save.

When CarPlay connects, PitStop starts a drive with that car's settings. It won't start a second one.

Home Screen widget

Long-press your Home Screen, tap the plus, and add Last Used Setup (small or medium).

  • Idle: shows QUICK START, your last car, drive mode, and data mode. Tap to open Start Drive pre-filled.
  • Shows Starts with CarPlay (small) or AUTO (medium) if auto-start is on.
  • No drives yet: No Recent Setup.
  • Recording: PitStop is recording with an ELAPSED timer. Tap to jump back.

Lock Screen and Dynamic Island

While you record, a Live Activity shows on the Lock Screen, and on the Dynamic Island if you have one.

  • Lock Screen: RECORDING, your car, a headline reading (speed by default), DIST, and TIME.
  • Dynamic Island: REC, the headline reading, distance, timer, and car name.
  • If updates stop, you'll see PAUSED or UPDATE PAUSED, and the numbers are stale.
  • Tap it to return to your drive.

With an OBD2 adapter, you can swap the headline reading, like coolant temperature:

  1. In Drive Settings, choose the car under Telemetry By Build.
  2. Under LIVE ACTIVITY, tap Choose (or Change).
  3. Pick Speed (Default) or a reading from your build.

It only applies to that car.
