Drag passes and time slips

Every pass lives on the car as a time slip: R/T, 60 ft, 330, ET, trap speed, and dial-in. Scan the paper slip or type the numbers in.

Log a pass

Passes belong to a drag event (a Drag Night). Open the event, pick the car, and tap Log a pass. You only see it on cars you can manage.

  1. Tap Log a pass. The sheet shows the next name, like Pass 4.
  2. Tap Scan time slip, Choose a photo, or Enter by hand.
  3. Wait while PitStop reads both lanes.
  4. Pick Left or Right, then check every number under Confirm the slip.
  5. Check On the car, add Notes if you like, and save.

Scan time slip only shows on devices that support document scanning.

How slip reading works

PitStop reads the slip on your phone. Both lanes print, so you pick yours. Only your lane is saved.

  • It uses your remembered car number to pick the lane, or the only lane with a readable ET.
  • No readable ET means blank numbers. Pick a lane and fill them in.
  • Unsure numbers show Check against the slip until you edit them.

The top shows 1/4-mile ET or 1/8-mile ET, Trap speed, and Reaction. Wrong lane? Tap the other. Start over resets.

The fields

They follow the paper slip. Everything is optional except ET.

  • Reaction time, 60 ft, 330 ft
  • 1/8-mile ET and 1/8-mile speed
  • 1,000 ft
  • 1/4-mile ET and 1/4-mile speed
  • Dial-in and Car number

Fill in 1/4-mile ET for a quarter-mile pass, or leave it blank for an eighth. You need an ET for the distance you ran.

Tie the pass to a setup

On the car shows the setup version the pass saves against. It starts with the event's version, or Setup not recorded. Tap Change (shown when the car has a setup) to pick another or Not recorded.

Open a pass to see Setup changes since the last one, and Full setup for every value.

Reading a pass

A pass reads like the tower's slip: monospaced, torn edges.

  • Header: track, layout, date, pass name, lane, car number.
  • Lines: R/T, 60', 330', 1/8 ET, 1/8 MPH, then for quarter-mile 1000', 1/4 ET, 1/4 MPH, and Dial. Unrecorded lines are skipped.
  • With a dial-in and ET, the bottom line shows how far over you were, or Broke out by the margin.

Under the name: Best of the day in green, or the gap to your best, like "+0.045 to Pass 2".

Compare against another pass

With another pass at the same event, a bar shows Against Pass 2 and a Compare menu.

  • The default reference is your best pass of the day (or your next best, if this is the best).
  • Compare lets you pick any other pass. Your best is tagged Best.
  • No comparison shows the pass On its own.

The slip adds the reference and a +/− column. Minus on a time means quicker; plus means slower; matches read "even". Better is green, worse is red (flipped for speeds).

The strip

On the strip draws the lane with each timer at its real distance and time. With a reference, Gained · lost colors each stretch: green found time, red lost it, grey level. Use it to see where a pass was won or lost.

The slip photo and notes

Scanned or chosen photos are kept with the pass under Files from the pass. Hand entries save no photo. Notes show on the pass.

To remove a pass, tap the trash button and confirm. Only managers see it.

Share a pass

As the owner, tap Share on the pass to post its result, or share the event to include that car's passes. Shared readers see the time-slip numbers, track, layout, and date. Your setup, conditions, notes, and slip photo stay with you and your crew.

See Track overview for audiences and removing a share.
